‘What do you love about holidays?’

For many people January is a great time for holidays. It’s good to break the routine and get away from some of the daily pressures of everyday life. Sometimes though, holidays don’t always work out how we imagine. So how do we find that rest and restoration when holidays become disasters or time and money just don’t allow us to get away?  Ali and Celia explore how to find rest and restoration as part of our normal routine during the holiday season.

Key takeaways from this episode

  • Holidays give us something to look forward to and help us push through the demands of everyday life

  • Time away from routine — whether a big trip or a small break — helps restore energy, perspective, and motivation

  • Holidays don’t always go to plan, but even imperfect breaks still offer renewal and remind us what really matters

  • Constant busyness leaves us drained; rest is essential for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being

  • God designed people for rest, not nonstop productivity — rest is part of how we’re made to live

  • When holidays aren’t possible, daily rhythms of rest — walking, quiet time, reflection, prayer — can still recharge us

  • Rest often needs to be intentional and scheduled, just like any other important commitment

  • Spending quiet time with God brings deep restoration, lifting our spirits and renewing our capacity to keep going
