‘New beginnings for me mean you’re leaving something and moving to something in the future you’re not quite sure about. So that can be a whole mixture of emotions.’
New beginnings can be stressful. Unknown experiences of changing jobs, a medical diagnosis, moving to a new country, or a life-changing experience of another kind can impact family life and our expectations. Listen as Richard, Clare and Tania share their experiences and what helps them cope through change.
New beginnings can be big or small. They may involve major life changes, like moving to a new country or starting a new career, but can also be everyday opportunities to start afresh after mistakes or conflicts.
Managing expectations is vital. Clare shared that new beginnings can bring excitement but also challenges when reality does not match expectations, highlighting the need to adapt and remain flexible.
Faith provides hope and guidance. Richard emphasised that trusting God can ease the fear and uncertainty that come with new beginnings, as God gives comfort, forgiveness, and strength for the journey.
Perspective and attitude matter. Seeing each day as an opportunity for a new start, forgiving ourselves and others, and focusing on what brings joy helps to navigate change positively.
Community and kindness are powerful. Clare encouraged valuing conversations and the kindness of strangers, as these small gestures can significantly impact someone’s day during times of transition.
Hope is central. New beginnings are filled with both uncertainty and possibility, but the Christian message of God’s love and renewal offers hope and reassurance through every change.
